Who was Ashli Babbitt? Air Force veteran’s husband has confirmed to KUSI News that she was shot dead inside the US Capitol during the protests on January 6th.
A riot erupted in Washington on Wednesday (January 6th) as Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Building while Congress was holding a meeting to announce President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory.
There have been four confirmed deaths and 52 arrests so far as a result of the protests.
A woman who was shot dead inside the Capitol has been identified by her husband as Ashli Babbitt, KUSI News reported.
Ashli Babbitt shot dead in Capitol
The woman who was fatally shot inside the Capitol building on Wednesday afternoon (January 6th) has been identified as Ashli Babbitt, a resident of San Diego.
Her husband confirmed to KUSI News that she was the person whose shooting was captured in a video during the protests yesterday.
Ashli’s mother-in-law Robin Babbit told The New York Post:
“I’m numb. I’m devastated. Nobody from DC notified my son and we found out on TV. She is a Trump supporter.”
Ashli’s brother-in-law told the publication: “It’s hard, because we haven’t been officially notified.”
Who was Ashli Babbitt?
Ashli Elizabeth Babbitt was a 35-year-old resident from Ocean Beach, San Diego.
She was a US Air Force veteran and has served as a high-level security official during her time in service.
Ashli was on Twitter under the handle @Ashli_Babbitt and shared pro-Trump posts hours before the protests in the Capitol building.
In one of her recent posts, Ashli tweeted: “Nothing will stop us…. they can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours….dark to light.”
Her Twitter bio says she loved “my dude, my dog, & above all, my country.”
Ashli Babbitt: Husband
Ashli was married to husband Aaron Babbitt and they lived together in San Diego.
Her husband said that Ashli was a “strong supporter of President Trump, and was a great patriot to all who knew her”, KUSI News reported.
