Harry Redknapp hailed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on talkSPORT for becoming ‘very important’ to Tottenham since his summer move from Southampton.
The former Spurs boss shared that the combative-natured player has brought something to the club’s midfield that they previously ‘lacked’.
Aside from the deadly duo of Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane, it could be argued that Hojbjerg has been Tottenham’s best player outside of the two.
Well, Redknapp was impressed with what the Denmark international has brought to the table after Spurs reached the League Cup final.
“He’s giving them in the middle of the park that they probably lacked,” said Redknapp. “It takes all types to make a team and that ingredient that he brings to the team is very important.
“He’s not going to catch the eye with his silky skills and passing or anything else. But he does all the dirty work and he’s been a good signing.”

If there is anybody in that Tottenham team that epitomises Jose Mourinho’s style of play then it’s Hojbjerg.
During Tottenham’s League Cup semi-final win over Brentford, he was on the end of a nasty challenge from Josh Dasilva, as Hojbjerg ended up receiving a pretty bad cut and bleeding across his shin.
But given his character, he wanted to stay on the pitch as the clock was ticking towards the 90, only for Mourinho insisting that he’s not allowed back on.
