Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are keen to sign Ozan Tufan from Fenerbahce, with Roy Hodgson’s side offering £9 million for the midfielder according to reports.
While rumours emanating out of Turkey are usually about as reliable as a teapot of the chocolate variety, it seems there is some truth in reports linking Tufan with a move to Selhurst Park.
After all, the man himself told Goal recently that he was on the verge of joining the Londoners on the final day of the January 2018 transfer window, only to see the deal collapse at the eleventh hour.
“Crystal Palace had showed a real interest in me a few years back and I nearly signed for them. We even had our plane tickets to England. But right before the day we planned to fly to England, Crystal Palace’s (Bakary) Sako got injured,” Tufan said.
“The board had an emergency meeting and they decided to sign a replacement for him. So my move failed. They signed Alexander Sorloth instead of me.”
With Sabah claiming that Crystal Palace are back in for a long-term target, putting £9 million on the table, Tufan will be hoping history does not repeat itself.

TRT believes that West Brom, who are scouring the market for new signings under Sam Allardyce, are also in the race for Tufan; a 53-capped Turkey international who was once tipped to emulate the great Yaya Toure by former Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereira.
But does Palace’s long-term target feel that he has unfinished business at Selhurst Park?
