According to DHA, Mesut Ozil has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract with Fenerbahçe as his exit from Arsenal draws closer.

DHA also mention that the Gunners will pay the German’s wages for the first six months of his contract with the Turkish side.

It is also said that Ozil received a proposal from DC United, who offered him a large salary as well as shares in the club.

However, the former Wolfsburg playmaker dreams of playing in front of the Fenerbahçe fans, according to DHA.

Acun Ilıcalı – a Turkish TV icon – was said to be instrumental in the move. DHA say the transfer only happened due to his influence.

DHA add that Ozil will reside in his Istanbul Kısıklı villa, where he will neighbour the president of the Super Lig side.

The former Real Madrid maestro, who earned 92 caps for Germany, finally looks to have brought an end to his nightmare in north London.

The 32-year-old hasn’t played for the Gunners since March.

He was also exiled from Mikel Arteta’s Premier League and Europa League squad for this season.

It is imperative that Arsenal offload him, as Ozil has cost the Gunners £350,000-a-week throughout his entire time on the sidelines.
