WandaVision will premiere on Disney+ on January 15th but how exactly is Vision alive on the TV series?
Following the cancellation and delay of many favourite series, 2021 is set to be an exciting year for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Disney+ will drop WandaVision on Friday (January 15th), the much-anticipated duo outing of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.
And while many fans are looking forward to watching the new series, many can’t stop asking themselves the same question again and again – ‘How is Vision alive in WandaVision’?
WandaVision on Disney+
The Marvel Cinematic Universe had audiences hooked immediately with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man back in 2008.
Since then, we’ve seen the introduction of many more characters, including the likes of Captain Marvel, Thor, Captain America – and of course Wanda and Vision.
WandaVision sees Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) live in an idyllic suburban home, inspired by conventional ’50s sitcoms.
The trailer of the series has left many viewers with questions with the most frequently asked how exactly Vision is alive in WandaVision.
How is Vision alive in WandaVision? Fans have theories
While the show hasn’t confirmed this, MCU fans have a leading theory about how Vision exists in WandaVision.
Many fans believe that Wanda has created a fake reality in which she and Vision live together so that she doesn’t lose her mind.
Wanda does have the power to create that sort of reality. So either that, or there is someone else who controls Wanda’s life.
One fan said on Twitter: “Wanda can bend reality to her own will and in the comics, it states how she’s basically losing her mind throughout all of this and made a fake reality where Vision was still alive. The show will just a witch slowly losing her sanity for the sake of happiness which is sad.”
In response, another user tweeted: ” I get that. That’s her original powers, but it never was in the MCU. So, I’m really looking forward to how they will play that aspect.”
Someone else added: “Wanda was possessed by an entity that alter reality. Her actual powers aren’t that OP because they retconned it.”
Can Vision return in future Marvel projects?
While this is unknown at the moment, Vision’s return in future Marvel projects would be problematic for a number of reasons.
First of all, the character died at the end of Infinity War and he didn’t reprise his role in Endgame.
Keen fans would remember that a number of characters who died in Infinity War were brought back in Endgame – but that sadly wasn’t the case for Vision who was killed by Thanos.
If creators decide to bring back Vision in future projects, some fans may feel that it is too easy for a character to come back from death.
Many viewers might question why other Avengers are not brought back to life (such as Tony Stark and Black Widow).
Plus, the death of an Avenger within the MCU is often depicted as a heroic act and bringing back a character would only tarnish what was accomplished in the first place.
