Arsenal target Julian Brandt was left on the bench for the first time all season by Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga yesterday.
Brandt has featured in every one of Dortmund’s games to date this season, but he was overlooked by Edin Terzic yesterday, in his side’s 2-0 win over Werder Bremen.
Brandt’s omission from the team may just have something to do with the continued speculation over his future, with Arsenal said to be interested.
If the switch was appealing before, then the 24-year-old is only likely to be even more eager to move to North London after his latest omission.
Brandt has gone from being a starter, to a substitute, to a complete reserve so far this season – and his place in the team now looks in huge doubt.
If he was to move to Arsenal there would be a direct route into Arteta’s side’s first-team.
Emile Smith Rowe has impressed in recent weeks, but Arsenal still are looking to add more creativity and quality in the final third and Brandt could help them in that regard.
The £22 million German international (Guardian) is a hugely talented player on his day, and his finesse and craft could make him an exciting addition to Arsenal’s squad.
