Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Kieran Tierney following his performance against West Bromwich Albion, as quoted on the club’s official website.
Tierney scored a brilliant solo goal for Arsenal in their 4-0 win against West Brom away from home at The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The left-back also provided an assist for one of Alexandre Lacazette’s goals.
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Tierney: “From the moment I joined this club and he went through this shoulder injury, I saw a player with enormous talent with the perfect attitude and commitment.
“He is a joy to work with and I’m so happy for him with the goal he scored and everything he’s put in to be better every day towards the team and towards the club.
“He had some issues to adapt and it was a challenge for him to leave his house, and we are all trying to help him because the kid really deserves it. He’s a joy to work with.”
The Spaniard told Football.London about Tierney: “He’s been fantastic since I’ve been here. The moment he got back from his shoulder injury he’s been terrific. He’s improving, willing to do better and better and he brings a great energy to the team.”
Key figure at Arsenal
Tierney is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and is one of the first names on the Arsenal teamsheet at the moment.
The former Celtic star can also operate as a left wing-back, and he is as good going on the attack as he is defensively.
According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old has scored one goal and provided one assist in 16 Premier League games for the Gunners so far this season.
Tierney has overcome the injury and fitness problems that affected him during the first half of last season and is now playing consistently well.
It was understandable that it took a while for the youngster to adapt to life in the Premier League after playing for Celtic for a number of years.
For Arsenal to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, Tierney will have to be on top of his game throughout.
