According to a report in ElDesmarque, Arsenal are keen on signing Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler.
The Gunners have previously been linked with a move for Soler, but for one reason or another, a move hasn’t come to fruition as of yet.
However, with the January transfer window now open, the Gunners reportedly could move for the midfielder once again.
The good news for Arsenal fans is that Soler could join for a bargain fee.
Indeed, the report says that Valencia again remain vulnerable in the transfer market due to their troubling financial situation, and ElDesmarque say that Valencia will consider any decent offer for their players regardless of the damage it will do to the first-team.
We can only imagine that he’ll be available for well below the €150 million release clause in his current contract.
We’ve already seen Valencia sell some very talented players to Premier League outfits this season with Ferran Torres joining Man City and Rodrigo joining Leeds in the summer.
So, what type of player will Arsenal be getting if they sign Soler?
Well, the Spaniard seems to be a rather handy player, he’s Valencia’s top scorer in the league this season with five goals, while he’s also chipped in with four assists along the way.
Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a creative midfielder, and while they weren’t able to land Dominik Szoboszlai, Soler may well be the next best thing.
Of course, whether or not this signing actually happens remains to be seen, but with Valencia in trouble financially and Soler being a multi-million pound asset, it seems as though a deal is there to be brokered at a good price.
This would certainly be a savvy move from Edu, and if the Gunners want to add more goals to their side, Soler is certainly a decent option for them to be looking at.
