According to Bild, Hertha Berlin have given Omar Rekik permission to undergo a medical with Arsenal after talks with Per Mertesacker.
Bild state that the Arsenal academy boss wanted the 19-year-old in the summer, although no move materialised.
Now, however, after the German made contact with the Bundesliga club once again, a medical has been given the green light.

Bild say that Rekik will be allowed to leave for €600,000 (£542,000).
Mertesacker has been so involved in proceedings as Arsenal plan to place the centre-back in their Under-23 squad.
However, Bild mention that he should be given the chance to train with the first-team.

You may be wondering: what type of player is the Hertha Berlin prospect?
Well, the Tunisian defender has made 63 appearances across various different ages groups for the Bundesliga outfit.
Brother of former Manchester City defender Karim Rekik, the teenager proved himself as somewhat of a goal threat at Under-19 level.
The Arsenal-bound prodigy scored five goals and recorded six assists from centre-back in 46 appearances.
After the emergence of starlets such as Bukayo Saka, Miguel Azeez, Joe Willock, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah, it is exciting to see a European talent cherry-picked by Mertesacker.
Hopefully, Rekik can follow in the aforementioned prospects’ footsteps in north London.
