Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games of all time prior to its launch, but its release hasn’t been entirely smooth thanks to controversies such as it unthinkably being removed from the PSN store. While you can question the release of the game and how much longer it should’ve spent in the development oven over in Poland, there’s no denying that it has a great story and characters. A fan-favourite of many is Takemura, and lots of people have been asking: can you save Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077? Here you’ll discover how to rescue him so he doesn’t have to die in the main quest, Search and Destroy.
As previously mentioned, there are lots of great characters in Cyberpunk 2077 with few of them being romance options for male and female V such as Judy and Panam. Rogue is the coolest gilf in any video game, Johnny Silverhand is an abusive a-hole terrorist who we like because he’s chill and plays the guitar, and Meredith is an entirely avoidable being who unfortunately disappears from Night City after an optional one night stand.
While there are plenty more inhabitants of Night City to gush about, below you’ll discover if you can save the fan-favourite Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077.
Does Takemura have to die in Cyberpunk 2077?
Takemura does not have to die in Cyberpunk 2077.
While you can leave Takemura to die in Cyberpunk 2077 during the main quest Search and Destory, his passing is not non-negotiable unlike Jackie who has to perish in the prologue.
Although it’s not entirely clear, you can rescue the former bodyguard to Saburo Arasaka and this’ll result in the ability to end your Night City endeavour with him.
The best and most optimistic ending in Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the Star with Panam and the Nomads, but this does not provide a resolution with Yorinobu.
If you wish to meet Yorinobu one-on-one so you can get the Devil ending with Takemura, below you’ll discover how to rescue him in Search and Destory.
How to save Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077
You can save Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077 during the main quest, Search and Destroy.
In order to save Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077, you must ignore Johnny’s advice of leaving him behind so you don’t similarly end up as toast.
The only objective marker during the mission points to leaving the building, but – once you’ve fallen over and been told to run by Johnny – you simply need to walk forward into the room with the neon blue cross.
Instead of following the objective waypoint through the massive hole on the right, you must instead turn left and crawl through the small hole hidden behind two shelves.
You will need to defeat a few enemies from here on, and Johnny will ask what on Earth you are doing when you reach a set of stairs.
Ignore his advice about Takemura being beyond any help, and then follow the now optional waypoint to save Takemura.
And that’s the basics for what you must know about how to save Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077.
It’s a bit shady on CD Projekt RED’s part to not include the optional waypoint from the get go, but take comfort in knowing that the fan-favourite former bodyguard does not have to die.
