Arsenal seem to be in the market for wide players in January.
Edu came out and claimed that the Gunners wanted to sign a creative midfielder during the winter window.
But much of the speculation is centering around the potential acquisition of wide players.
In midweek, The Daily Star claimed that Arsenal wanted struggling Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior, who is primarily a winger.
And now according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the North Londoners might be tempted to get Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt.
The 24-year-old has been on the fringes of things at Signal Iduna Park this season and Ornstein claims that Arsenal may be interested in bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.
Brandt reportedly has a fan in Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who, according to Raphael Honigstein, a German football expert, wanted the Germany international at Anfield ahead of Mo Salah.
If true, that’s one hell of an endorsement for Brandt, but he might not be what Arsenal need.
Edu was absolutely right in saying that the club’s priority has to be a midfield spark, a playmaker.
Arsenal are bottom of the table in terms of chances created this season and it remains to be seen whether Brandt is the man to drag those numbers up.
