Leeds United fans may be hoping for new signings in January, but some fringe players may need to move on to create some room.
With that in mind, here are three players who should be viewing January as a chance to leave Leeds and play first-team action elsewhere.
Ouasim Bouy
One of the more bizarre signings in recent years, Bouy joined Leeds on a free transfer from Juventus in 2017 following a series of loan spells around Europe. Leeds sent Bouy straight out to Cultural Leonesa, and then to PEC Zwolle, but he now hasn’t played a single first-team game for any club for around 18 months. At 27, Bouy needs to leave Leeds and get playing elsewhere rather than sit fading away at Elland Road.
Jay-Roy Grot
Another 2017 signing, Grot came in from NEC Nijmegen with a burgeoning reputation, but he scored just once in 23 games for Leeds. Loan spells at VVV-Venlo and Vitesse Arnhem haven’t brought him any closer to first-team football with Leeds, and he isn’t even registered for first-team action this term. Grot is only 22, so there is still potential in him if he can find the right home, but that certainly isn’t Leeds.

Kiko Casilla
This may be a controversial one, but Leeds have recently been linked with a new goalkeeper in Dean Henderson, suggesting they’re eyeing new competition for Illan Meslier. Casilla’s time at Leeds has been marred by the suspension for racial abuse last season, and if Leeds do fancy a new signing, it may be best to move on. The 34-year-old does still have more than two years left on his deal, so he may not be easy to shift, but the Henderson rumours mean he may be looking over his shoulder.
