Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the returning Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is impressing him in Liverpool training as of late.
Klopp put his side through their paces one last time before Saturday’s visit of West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, a £40 million signing in 2017, hasn’t started a game for Liverpool since July due to another injury.
But he did make his comeback in last week’s 7-0 demolition of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, managing a 15-minute cameo.
The 27-year-old was present at Liverpool’s training ground today and the German manager claims there’s more to come from the former Arsenal player, who even asked permission to go a bit harder in fitness training.
He told The Echo: “Ox trained today and had a really good session. He asked the fitness coach if he can do a little bit more. There is still something to come so I am really looking forward to it.”
Rotation will be important for Klopp over the coming weeks.
This continues to be a busy month in terms of fixtures and there’s every chance that the Liverpool boss will start him against the Baggies, given that Fabinho will be playing in central defence again.
