Celtic have been handed an injury blow ahead of Wednesday night’s match against Ross County as Scott Brown and Shane Duffy are rated doubtful for the crucial match.

Neil Lennon’s men go into the game on a high following Sunday’s Scottish Cup Final win against Hearts. Captain Brown and Duffy both started at Hampden and picked up injuries in the 120-minute epic.

The news will come as a blow for Lennon, with the 16-point gap at the top of the Premiership meaning they cannot afford to drop points against the Staggies.

The champions will be looking to avenge November’s humiliating 2-0 Betfred Cup defeat against the side at the bottom of the table. Manager Stuart Kettlewell was dismissed at the weekend following a poor run of form, meaning new manager John Hughes’ first match in charge will be against the side he played for between 1995 and 1996.

Radio Clyde Sports Editor Alison Conroy tweeted: “Scott Brown and Shane Duffy are doubts for Celtic’s game v Ross County.

“Both picked up injuries in Sunday’s Scottish Cup Final.”
