Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are battling German and Italian clubs to sign former Middlesbrough winger Bilal Brahimi from Ligue 1 outfit Reims, as reported by FootMercato.
While Dael Fry, Djed Spence and Lewis Wing have made a real impression since rising through the ranks on the Riverside, Boro could soon live to regret seeing an exciting, Paris-born 20-year-old slip through the net.
The Championship high-flyers tried and failed to keep Brahimi in the north east but, according to Teesside Live, a chance to move closer to his family in France was an opportunity the youngster couldn’t turn down.
Brahimi joined Ligue 1 outfit Reims in 2019.
According to FootMercato, however, the highly rated wideman could be heading back to Britain next year, with Rangers interested.
The runaway Scottish Premiership leaders will face competition from Lens, Stuttgart and an unnamed Serie A outfit. Reims hold all the power too, given Brahimi has a contract until 2023.

A left-footed winger renowned for his pace, Brahimi has produced six goals and two assists in 16 matches on loan at second-tier Le Mans this season.
“If I work hard and well, I hope to be able to play in the Premier League one day,” he told FootMercato last year.
“I have three models – Riyad Mahrez, Leroy Sane and Gareth Bale.”
