Dimitar Berbatov stated on his Instagram story that Tottenham are ‘real challenge contenders’ for the Premier League title this season.

The former technically-gifted striker also stated that Moussa Sissoko is currently one of Tottenham’s best players, alongside the usual duo of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

Tottenham’s title hopes have been dealt a blow during this past week because they have lost back-to-back matches against Liverpool and Leicester, who are now above them in the table.

As Sunday’s game was unfolding, Berbatov was answering questions on his Instagram story and he was first asked about whether Tottenham can win the title.

“Yes, I think they are real challenge contenders,” said Berbatov. “Hopefully, hopefully, they can do it. But it’s going to be difficult.

On who is Tottenham’s best player currently: “Well, I think, of course, the obvious one. Harry Kane. Son. I like Sissoko too. They are great, great players in the team now.”

It’s great to see a player like Sissoko get recognition for his performances because it hasn’t exactly been plain sailing for the £30 million Tottenham signing [BBC Sport].

The midfield powerhouse struggled during the early parts of his Spurs career, but ironically enough, as the North London club began to stagnate under Mauricio Pochettino, he started producing his best performances and was at one point their best player.

Not only that, under Jose Mourinho, as proven in the Spurs documentary, he is a likeable individual in the dressing room and he would have also played his part in his close friend Tanguy Ndombele turning his career around at the club after a rocky start.
