According to The Sunday Mirror (20/12, p71), Crystal Palace are now favourites to sign Reading playmaker Michael Olise.
It’s stated that the Eagles are now leading the race to sign Olise, with Reading bracing themselves for offers in January or the summer.
Palace looked to the Championship for creative talent over the summer by landing Eberechi Eze from Queens Park Rangers, and his impressive displays mean they could look to the second tier again.
Olise, 19, has impressed this term with four goals and seven assists in 20 Championship games, sparking huge interest.
The report notes that Leeds had a summer bid rejected, and they could now lose out with Palace pushing to sign the Frenchman.
Olise has had spells with Chelsea and Manchester City earlier in his career, and could now return to the top flight as a senior player.
Capable of playing as a number 10 or on either flank, Olise is a skilful left-footed threat in the final third, and pairing him up with Eze could make Palace exciting for years to come.
They won’t be alone in the race for him, and Leeds may yet return themselves, but the reports of them being favourites are hugely encouraging for Eagles fans.
