Speaking on talkSPORT, Jamie O’Hara has slammed Tottenham star Harry Kane for backing into airborne players who are trying to win headers.
This is becoming something of a signature move for Kane, and there has been plenty of discussion about whether or not he should be allowed to continue doing this, and it’s clear that O’Hara isn’t a fan of what Kane has continuously been doing.
“They need to put that in the rules and say that if a player is doing that it needs to be an instant booking or off,” O’Hara said.
“Sooner or later, the Gabriel one I thought and the Lallana, when he goes up, you’ve got no control when you’re in the air.
“So if I jump up and think ‘I’m going to win this over Harry Kane’ and then I’m looking at him and thinking ‘he ain’t jumped’ and then he backs into me and puts me on a spin, it’s the luck of the draw and the luck of the fall then. You can fall on your back, you can fall on your neck, it is really dangerous, and that for me is worse than diving.”

This is one that’s bound to divide opinion.
Kane isn’t trying to injure a player when he’s doing this, but it’s something that does need an eye keeping on it.
It only takes one player to react slowly and not get his arms out to protect him and we could be talking about a serious injury, that could threaten a player’s career.
It’s hard to say that it’s a foul, because it’s so hard to spot when it’s intentional or not, but at the same time, something needs to be done to protect these players.
Luckily, Kane hasn’t seriously harmed anyone by doing this yet, but this conversation in the media is bound to have referees keeping an eye on this alarming trait that Kane has developed.
