Edu has confirmed this week that Arsenal will be in the market for a playmaker next month.

The Gunners are enduring a miserable Premier League season and have only scored 11 goals in 13 games, leaving them 15th in the table and five points ahead of Burnley – who have two games in hand – in 18th.

Arsenal are crying out for some creativity from midfield in the wake of Mesut Ozil’s exile under Mikel Arteta.

And according to a report from Spain, Arteta has asked the club to give him one of Isco or Houssem Aouar in January.

Aouar has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for around six months and Edu had two bids rejected by Lyon during the summer window.

But Isco is now another option and according to Defensa Central, Arteta has requested either the French star or the Real Madrid wizard, who has won four Champions League titles in the Spanish capital.

The report adds that Arsenal aren’t able to afford both but that they and other Premier League sides would be willing to meet Isco’s salary demands of £103,000 per week.

Fans of the North London club would happily take either of those two, even if Arteta brings Ozil back into play in January, and it’ll be fascinating to see if this is merely a product of the rumour mill or a substantial report.
