Dinamo Zagreb star and reported Leeds United target Lovro Majer will soon be one of the best midfielders in European football, Juanma Lopez told Gianluca di Marzio.

The Croatia international may not be a household name in West Yorkshire but that could change sooner rather than later.

Calciomercato report that Majer is a target for not just Marcelo Bielsa’s Premier League newcomers but also continental giants Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Valencia and Sevilla (Calciomercato).

Majer has also produced ten goals and nine assists for club and country in 2019/20, justifying comparisons with another former Dinamo Zagreb youngster – a certain Luka Modric.

It remains to be seen whether the 22-year-old can emulate the remarkable career of a man who won the Balon d’Or in 2018 and lifted the Champions League trophy four times in the gleaming white shirt of Real Madrid.

But, according to one of the most well-connected agents in the game, Majer will join Modric in the elite bracket before long. 

“I know him well, he is an extraordinary talent who can go very far,” said Lopez, who has a close relationship with the agency who represent the £9 million-rated play-maker.

“His growth is constant. He will become one of the strongest in Europe in his role, you will see.”

In theory, Majer would have few problems adapting to Bielsa’s unrelenting, high-octane brand of attacking football at Elland Road, all the while providing a goal threat from midfield.
