Doncaster Rovers fans could be forgiven for clipping Josh Sims’ interview out of last Thursday’s edition of the Yorkshire Post and framing it.
Because the Southampton loanee ensured that Christmas, in South Yorkshire at least, has come early.
“One hundred per cent I’d be interested in staying (beyond January),” Sims explained with just a few weeks remaining before his loan spell at the Keepmoat expires.
“I’m playing regular football now – very, very regular football! – and I’m enjoying it.
“I will sit down with Southampton and Doncaster, weigh up my options and see what’s best for me when that time comes.”
It almost goes without saying that, if Sims wants to stay, Doncaster will do everything in their power to make the winger’s wishes come true

The quicksilver 23-year-old has been in scintillating form since joining from St Mary’s after all, producing six assists in just 11 League One matches.
A Gillingham side who had won four of their previous five games couldn’t deal with one of League One’s hottest forwards as their fine run of form ended on Saturday; Doncaster prevailing 2-1 with a win that moves them to within touching distance of the play-off places.
Sims is due to become a free agent next summer. Maybe, just maybe, he will be a Doncaster player next Christmas too.
In the Championship, perhaps.
