Speaking on the Beautiful Game Podcast, Daniel Sturridge has spoken about what it’s like to work under Jurgen Klopp on a daily basis.
The German came in at Anfield in 2016, and Sturridge worked under him for just under three years, and despite not having the best of times under the former Borussia Dortumund boss, he spoke very highly of him and his training strategies.
The striker was asked what it’s like to work with Klopp on a daily basis, and Sturridge cut straight to the chase, giving a one-word response.
“Intense.” Sturridge said.
The striker would go on to elaborate on what he meant by intense.
“It’s just like, he’s on it every day, and I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a gaffer who was on it every day like shouting every day you know, just on it. You couldn’t not be on it, like he says it’s rock and roll football, it’s gung-ho, people are flying around it’s 100 miles per hour.”
Sturridge is absolutely right when he says there may not be another manager quite like Klopp.
We can only imagine how intense it is to work under the Liverpool boss, but at the end of the day, his methods get results, so there can be no complaints about what he does on the training ground.
Liverpool have gone from strength to strength under Klopp, and while his ‘rock and roll football’ can probably be intimidating at first, he’s proven himself to be one of the best managers on the planet.
Liverpool are lucky to have Klopp, and while Sturridge was a bit more prolific under Brendan Rodgers, you can see that he has immense respect for his former boss.
