Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has raved about Leighton Clarkson, as quoted in The Liverpool Echo today.

Klopp has said that Clarkson played well for Liverpool in the 1-1 draw with FC Midtjylland away from home in Denmark in Champions League Group D on Wednesday evening.

The German coach said that it was a good game for the 19-year-old midfielder, and has stated that the Liverpool academy graduate is much better than what he showed in midweek.

The Liverpool Echo quotes Klopp as saying about Clarkson today: “It was a really good game for a boy of his age group. You cannot imagine how much better he is than he showed on the night.”

How did Leighton Clarkson play against FC Midtjylland?

Clarkson started the match for Liverpool and played for the entire 90 minutes, as it ended in a 1-1 draw.

It was the teenager’s debut in the Champions League, and the youngster showed his class.

The midfielder showed his range of passing, helped out defensively, and looked like a player who could be part of the first team on a regular basis.

According to WhoScored, Clarkson played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 73.2%, won one header, took 61 touches, attempted one dribble, and made two clearances.

Clarkson is only 19 years of age and is starting his career, but the early signs are very positive indeed.
