Trevor Sinclair raved about reported Rangers target Billy Gilmour on talkSPORT (12:40pm, December 9, 2020), and believes that Frank Lampard will not let the midfielder leave Chelsea for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Rangers manager Gerrard wants to bring Gilmour back to Ibrox in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.
It has been reported that the Gers have already made an approach to Chelsea for the 19-year-old midfielder.
However, according to talkSPORT, the Blues do not plan to send the Scotland Under-21 international midfielder out on loan when the transfer window opens in January.
Gilmour made his comeback from injury in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with FK Krasnodar at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, leaving Sinclair, who is a Celtic fan, impressed.
Sinclair said about Gilmour on talkSPORT (12:40pm, December 9, 2020): “He is balanced in the way that he glides past players, the use of the ball.
“I think it was a shame that he got injured, but he has come back, he has bounced back with his first appearance back, a man-of-the-match performance.
“So I am sure that Frank has got massive plans for him at Chelsea, and I am looking forward to see how he develops as a player.”
Loan move back to Rangers?
Gilmour left Rangers for Chelsea in 2017, and the midfielder would not have any problem in settling into the team at Ibrox.
However, 19-year-old is in a better league at the moment, and although he may not get regular playing time between now and the end of the season, working under Lampard and training alongside the likes of Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, Jorginho, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz would only make him better.
