Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has given an interesting update on West Ham United star Declan Rice and his potential move to Chelsea in January.
West Ham fans must be bored to death of hearing about Rice to Chelsea after months of speculation, but this update is a rather significant one.
McGarry claims that Chelsea have instructed a high-profile agent to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga and Antonio Rudiger, and that agent has reportedly told McGarry something very interesting about Rice’s future.
“They are prepared to invest again in January. The word I got from the agent, who has been mandated to sell players from Stamford Bridge, when I asked him about Chelsea’s chances of recruiting Declan Rice was I think the owners of West Ham would take the money for Rice if they can get the right price for him in this window,” McGarry said.
“There’s obviously a door opening there as far as Chelsea are concerned,” The journalist concluded.

Every player has a price, and it seems as though Chelsea may be preparing to pay big money for West Ham’s prized asset.
Of course, it remains to be seen what Gold and Sullivan would be willing to accept for Rice, but it’s hard to imagine that it will be anything other than a club-record sale for West Ham.
Unfortunately for Hammers fans, this day was always going to come, Rice is a top talent who is more than capable of playing Champions League football, and in order for him to have the career his talent warrants, a move away from the London Stadium is on the cards.
The good news is that it doesn’t seem as though he’s going to go on the cheap, Chelsea are going to use the funds from the sales of Kepa and Rudiger to fund this transfer, and it’s hard to imagine that those two aren’t going to be leaving Stamford Bridge for small fees.
