Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has praised West Ham United star Declan Rice on BBC Radio Leeds.
Phillips plays with fellow midfielder Rice for the England national football team, and the two players will face each other in the Premier League this week.
Leeds will take on West Ham at Elland Road in the league on Friday evening.
Ahead of the match, Phillips, 25, has spoken highly of Rice, who can also operate as a defender, and believes that it is great of him to be playing for England regularly at just 21.
Phillips told BBC Radio Leeds about competition with Rice in the England team: “Declan’s obviously a very good player. He is younger than me as well. He has got a lot of experience in the Premier League, as I have not. For him to be playing for England so young is unbelievable for him. It’s very good for him.”
Kalvin Phillips v Declan Rice
Phillips and Rice are two of the better defensive midfielders in the Premier League, and it is very likely that both the players will be in the England squad for the European Championship in the summer of 2021.
It will be interesting to see how the two players fare against each other this week. West Ham have been in good form in recent weeks, while Leeds are a tough team to face, and the match promises to be hugely exciting, as the two teams will be aiming to bounce back from respective defeats at the weekend.
