Burnley are once again showing an interest in long-term transfer target Joe Worrall, with the Sun (6 December, page 59) reporting that Sean Dyche’s side could move for the Nottingham Forest defender in January.
Steven Defour, Jonathan Walters and Anders Lindegaard were all plying their trade at Turf Moor the first time Burnley were linked with Worrall, all the way back in December 2017 (Sun).
Three years on, even with one of the Football League’s top centre-halves in the midst of recovering from a fractured foot, Forest’s homegrown hero is back on the radar.
The Sun reports that, with just three weeks remaining before the January transfer window creaks open, Burnley are putting plans in place as they look to move away from the relegation battle.
Worrall, once again, is in Dyche’s sides. The Clarets are closely monitoring the fitness of a centre-half who has played just four Championship matches this term.
Burnley saw a £4 million bid rejected for Worrall back in August (Sun, 31st, page 62) with Nottingham Forest demanding closer to £12 million for a man who rose through the ranks at the Nigel Doughty academy before becoming a first-team regular in Garibaldi red (Mail).

Worrall, of course, is a boyhood Forest fan and it remains to be seen whether he could be tempted away from his City Ground home by the chance to join Burnley.
Ben Mee and James Tarkowski are two of the first names on Dyche’s team-sheet after all.
But, with Tarkowski making it clear that he will not sign a new contract, Worrall might be viewed at Turf Moor as an eventual replacement for the England international (Telegraph).
