Bobbie Thomas broke the news about the death of her husband, Michael Marion, with a heartfelt Instagram post. Most of us will know Bobbie from her work on The Today Show, but what do we know about her late husband, Michael Marion?
Today Show style editor Bobbie Thomas revealed on Instagram that her husband, Michael Marion, passed away at the beginning of December 2020.
She posted three photos showing Michael in the hospital and a caption urging her followers to appreciate their loved ones while they’re still around.
It seems that Bobbie’s husband, 42-year-old Michael, suffered from an Ischemic stroke in 2019, aged 40. An ischemic stroke happend when a blockage to an artery reduces blood flow and oxygen to the brain.
Michael’s stroke left him needing to use a wheelchair, but his health slowly progressed until he was able to walk again, with assistance, in May this year.
An Instagram video from June shows Michael’s health improve even further, as he became able to pick up his son again.
Following the stroke, he had other health complications but in a statement to ‘Today’, Bobbie clarified that her husband’s death was not related to those previous problems, nor was it linked with COVID-19.
Who is Michael Marion?
Bobbie’s husband, Michael Marion, was not in the media spotlight very often, so not much is publicly known about him.
What we do know is that Michael Kenneth Marion was a lawyer, a graduate from the University of Michigan, NYU School of Law and George Washington School of Law. His area of expertise was in tax law and he had obtained his license in 2005.
According to an obituary, Michael was a partner with the Mayer Brown law firm in New York City.
He was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland and he has one sister, Sara Marion Kish.
Bobbie and Michael married on May 31st 2013 in Connecticut, after five years of dating. Together, they have a five-year-old son, Miles.
