It may not be held up as a nation brimming with talent, but Norway look poised for a very exciting future.
They have Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer at the back, a top young midfielder in Sheffield United’s Sander Berge, a playmaker in Martin Odegaard and one of the top strikers in the world in Erling Haaland.
If they can mesh those players together in cohesive unit, Norway could be a real threat – and they now have a dazzling winger to add into the mix.
Jens Petter Hauge became a star with Bodo-Glimt, smashing 17 goals in 21 games for them in 2020 before AC Milan won the race to sign him.
Calciomercato reported in September that Leeds were ‘in the front row’ to sign Hauge, but Milan swooped in and won the race ahead of the Whites.
Leeds may well be gutted now; Hauge has already bagged three goals and one assist in just nine games for Milan, with the 21-year-old already looking like a star of the future.
If Leeds fans needed any other indications of Hauge’s quality, then a new comparison may just show them what a talent he appears to be.
Milan legend and commentator Carlo Pellegatti has told Tuttomercatoweb that he thinks Hauge is similar to Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min.
“The comparison is challenging for the Viking of Milan, but for the way he moves and for the goals he scores, he resembles Son of Tottenham, one of the 10 best players in the world today,” said Pellegatti.
They’re both well-built, left-sided wingers who drive at defenders and cut inside to cause mayhem, and whilst it’s a lofty comparison, Milan will now have real hope that Hauge can indeed reach that level – and Leeds may rue missing out.
