It wasn’t a good result for Leeds United last night.
But that isn’t to say that it wasn’t a good performance, because it was, and a number of Marcelo Bielsa’s side impressed in the 3-1 defeat at Chelsea.
You could argue that Leeds’ best player on the night was young goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
The 20-year-old made a number of fantastic saves during the defeat and if not for the Frenchman, the scoreline would’ve been far worse for the visitors.
Leeds signed the youngster up on a permanent deal for £5 million this past summer, after impressing in a big way during the second half of last season.
And suffice to say that some fans of the Elland Road outfit were thoroughly impressed by the young man last night.

If you’re a 20-year-old goalkeeper who’s impressing away at Chelsea in the Premier League, you have a huge future in the game and players of Meslier’s position tend to go for big bucks if the potential is there.
The Blues and Liverpool have both spent over £65 million on goalkeepers in recent years, with Chelsea also picking up £53 million for Thibaut Courtois two years ago.
Leeds have a gem here and it’s fascinating to see how good he can be over the coming years.
