By virtue of the fact they shipped three goals last night, you could argue no Tottenham Hotspur defensive player covered themselves in much glory.

Spurs qualified for the knockout phase of the Europa League with a 3-3 draw away to Austrian outfit LASK.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho admitted afterwards that some of his players didn’t have very good individual performances and Ben Davies – captain on the night – is probably one of the stars who the Portuguese coach was referring to.

The Wales international offered little to no attacking purpose going forward and struggled defensively, particularly in the build-up to the hosts’ last-minute equaliser.

It’s been a pretty hit-and-miss season for Davies, who has been usurped as Mourinho’s primary left-back by Sergio Reguilon.

Another player to suffer from Reguilon’s arrival from Real Madrid is Ryan Sessegnon, who was sent on loan to Hoffenheim.

The 20-year-old, a £20 million signing in the summer of 2019, helped the Bundesliga outfit secure top spot in their own Europa League group last night with a 0-0 draw with Crvena zvezda.

And here’s how Tottenham fans responded to the youngster’s post-match tweet:

Sessegnon was named as Hoffenheim’s Player of the Month for November, illustrating that he’s getting on fine in Germany.

The Bundesliga is a difficult league to thrive in, but the former Fulham gem looks like he’s doing just that right now and it’ll be interesting to see how much better he is by next summer.
