Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to reveal they want to see Mikel Arteta include Mesut Özil in his updated Premier League squad in January.
Premier League managers can submit an updated squad list mid-season, when the January transfer window comes to a close. This is to ensure that any new signings can be legitimately registered.
Having just entered December, it won’t be long until Arteta is sat in his office deciding who to include in his updated squad.
However, if Arsenal fans had their way, it’s evident that they’d include the German.
The former Real Madrid maestro was axed from the Spaniard’s original Premier League squad, and also his Europa League squad as the anti-Özil feeling at the Emirates continues.
The 32-year-old hasn’t played for the Gunners since assisting Alexandre Lacazette’s goal in a 1-0 over West Ham on March 7th.
Arteta also axed Sokratis from both his domestic and European squads.
It is yet to be disclosed exactly why Özil isn’t playing for the north Londoners right now, as the ex-Manchester City coach remains tight-lipped on the situation.
Regardless of the reason, Arsenal need his creativity right now more than ever – the Gunners have scored the fourth-fewest goals in the Premier League this season with just ten in ten games.
