A nurse from Salem, Oregon has been put on leave after she went viral mocking Covid-19 precautions in a TikTok video.
It’s been over a year since the first Covid case was reported, and the world is still taking many precautions to curb the spread of the virus. Some of these include mask-wearing, social distancing and limiting travel in order to stop the coronavirus from transmitting between people.
There have now been almost 1.5 million reported deaths from Covid-19, and it is important that people follows these measures in order to prevent the spread of the disease before a vaccine becomes available.
One nurse from Salem, Oregon has gained a lot of criticism after she completely disregarded Covid precautions in a TikTok video and she’s even been suspended from her job by Salem Health.

Salem nurse mocks Covid-19 precuations in viral TikTok video
A health official from Salem in Oregon has gained a lot of criticism after she posted a video where she appeared to be mocking coronavirus precautions like mask-wearing and social distancing.
In the video posted by TikTok user @loveiskind05, the nurse wrote: “When my co-workers find out I still travel, don’t wear a mask when I’m out and let my kids have play dates.”
The nurse did not speak in the video, instead choosing to write the text on-screen alongside audio from the popular film The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
The original video has now been deleted, but copies of it still remain on the social media app.
The nurse has been placed on leave
According to BuzzFeed, many people identified the nurse and alerted the hospital in Salem that she works at to her TikTok, leading to her being placed on “administrative leave pending an investigation” by the hospital.
In a statement on Facebook, Salem Health said:
“Yesterday, a nurse employed with Salem Health posted a video on social media which displayed cavalier disregard for the seriousness of this pandemic and her indifference towards physical distancing and masking outside of work. This video has prompted an outcry from concerned community members. We want to thank those of you who brought this to our attention and assure you that we are taking this very seriously. This individual does not speak for Salem Health and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.”
They then continued to say that the actions of the nurse do not reflect any other members of staff at Salem Health, and then assured the public that they are committed to stopping the “rapid spread of Covid-19” and “protecting the vulnerable”.
Who is the Salem nurse?
A spokesperson for Salem Nurse told BuzzFeed that the nurse is called Ashley Grames and she works in the Oncology department.
