Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praised Tottenham Hotspur central defender Joe Rodon on Sky Sports Football (6:35pm, November 29, 2020) for his performance against Chelsea.
The former Chelsea striker, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, was impressed by the display produced by Rodon in the Premier League game between the Blues and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in London this evening.
Hasselbaink said about Rodon on Sky Sports Football (6:35pm, November 29, 2020): “He looks like a proper Spurs player, centre-half. Nothing fazes him, put his head in when needed.”
How did Joe Rodon play against Chelsea?
Rodon joined Tottenham from Championship club Swansea City in the summer of 2020.
The London derby at Stamford Bridge this evening was the first time that the youngster had started a competitive game for Spurs.
Although the 23-year-old looked a bit nervous early on, the centre-back grew into the game and produced a solid display at the back.
The youngster looked very mature defensively, coped well with the Chelsea attacks, and appeared comfortable on the ball.
According to WhoScored, the Wales international had a pass accuracy of 83.3%, won one header, took 58 touches, and made two interceptions and four clearances.
With Chelsea aiming to win the Premier League this season, a draw at Stamford Bridge this evening for Spurs, who are also emerging as challengers for the title, is not a bad result for Jose Mourinho’s side.
