Where was Black Beauty on Disney Plus filmed? Let’s consider the filming locations of the 2020 movie starring Mackenzie Foy.
Over the course of the year, fans of the Mickey Mouse house have grown to cherish Disney+ as somewhat of an essential.
While the streaming service may not offer the wide array of diverse content that its competitors do – Amazon Prime Video, Netflix etc. – it does offer a wealth of Star Wars, Marvel and other content besides what you’d classically associate with Disney.
They have offered subscribers a number of anticipated movies this year, with the latest being Black Beauty.
Arriving on Disney+ on Friday, November 27th 2020, the film serves as an adaptation of Anna Sewell’s classic 1877 novel of the same name.
It stars Mackenzie Foy (Interstellar) in the lead as Jo Green, while Kate Winslet (Titanic) provides the voice of the titular horse.
Now, where exactly was Black Beauty on Disney Plus filmed?
Black Beauty on Disney Plus: Where was it filmed?
- The 2020 movie Black Beauty was shot in and around Cape Town, South Africa. Some sequences were actually filmed in the Val de Vie Estate, Lourensford Estate and Piketberg.
This was highlighted by the Radio Times, while Mackenzie took the time to address filming locations while in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. She explained that the majority of the shoot took place in South Africa, but that filming also took them to New York.
On the other hand, Mackenzie adds that some of the scenes set there – in Central Park, to be exact – are deceptive:
“It’s crazy because you wouldn’t think that New York and South Africa would go together, but those scenes in Central Park were actually filmed in South Africa. I have a picture of me in Central Park from a couple years ago, and it looks exactly the same. It’s insane”
She also offered her thoughts on South Africa: “I just loved South Africa. It’s stunning. It’s one of the most amazing places that I’ve ever been, and I definitely have to go back one day.”
