Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to express their concern over Neco Williams, following Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Atalanta in the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp fielded a slightly weakened side including the likes of Kostas Tsimikas, Divock Origi and Williams, but his XI couldn’t do enough to secure a result.

Despite there being a number of poor performers, it’s the Wales international who has been the subject of discussion on Twitter.
The 19-year-old – who earns £7,692-a-week at Anfield – was making his first Champions League start of the season, and did fairly well defensively.
According to SofaScore, Williams made five interceptions, two tackles and won five of his nine ground duels.
However, perhaps it was his lack of proficiency going forward which concerned supporters.

The teenager lost possession on 27 occasions, and delivered three crosses although none went down as being accurate.
It’s important not to criticise Williams too much, as he’s still vastly inexperienced and is surely going to be up against it with comparisons to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has set the bar ridiculously high.
On this occasion, the Liverpool supporters below have not been scathing in their verdict on his display.
Instead, they’ve been more supportive but also concerned, with some feeling that a loan move would do the full-back some good.
Let’s see what they’ve been saying about the Welshman…
Neco Williams needs a loan. I don’t think he’s ready to be Trent’s back up. That’s just my opinion.

Agree – you can have an opinion without abusing someone. He’s not quite ready for this level but he’s young and a loan would do him the world of good, just like Harvey Elliot

It’s hard though when you’re coming in for not just a world class player like TAA, but an early career player who excels across the board with professionalism. Not many young players able to hit those levels! Almost like we’ve been here before with Gerrard and Hendo🤔

My thoughts exactly. Send him somewhere to get better. No shame in that at his age. On the contrary – only added value.
