Leeds United have finally returned to the Premier League, and it’s all down to manager Marcelo Bielsa and his impact at Elland Road.

The Whites landed a major coup in the summer of 2018 as they landed Bielsa, and he came close to promotion in the first season as Leeds suffered play-off heartache.

Last season, Bielsa took Leeds back to the promised land, coasting to the Championship title as their 16-year exile from the top flight came to an end.

Leeds have made a decent start to the season with 11 points from nine Premier League games, and Bielsa has now been recognised for his influence.

FIFA have named their Men’s Coach of the Year nominees, with Bielsa included amongst some of the game’s top managers.

Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane and Julen Lopetegui of Sevilla have all joined Bielsa in the running for the award.

Some aren’t impressed; Flick won the Bundesliga and the Champions League, Klopp led Liverpool to a comfortable Premier League title, Zidane won La Liga and Lopetegui continued Sevilla’s dominance of the Europa League.

Some feel that Bielsa winning the Championship doesn’t come close to those accomplishments, but Guillem Balague has moved to defend the Argentinian.

Balague has suggested that he doesn’t care what anyone says, because Bielsa deserves to be on the list for being so left-field and innovative, believing he should be on these lists all the time for being such an influence.
