Footballing legend Diego Maradona passed away on November 25th 2020 leaving behind eight children.

The footballer turned manager, who led Argentina to World Cup victory in 1986, died at his home at the age of 60 from a heart attack.

Diego’s sporting life is one that will be remembered, however, his personal life was complicated.

Diego Maradona: Children

Diego Maradona married his partner of 13 years, Claudia Villafañe, in 1989. The pair had two daughters, Dalma and Giannina, who were born in 1987 and 1989.

Dalma Maradona was born in Buenos Aires and is an actress who has appeared in TV series such as Cebollitas, Guapas and :Presentes, as well as films, Orillas and La venganza de Ira Vamp. Dalma, 33, has 967k Instagram followers (@dalmaradona).

She’s married to Andrés Caldarelli and together they have a son, Rome.

Her younger sister, Giannina Maradona, also has a son named Ben.

Maradona’s children’s names

As well as his two daughters from the marriage with Claudia, Diego has six more children.

In 2019, he accepted paternity of three children from relationships he had while living in Cuba, their names are Joana, Lu and Javielito according to The Daily Mail. A 2019 BBC report states that Diego “recognised Diego Junior and Jana after court battles with their mothers.”

Born September 20th 1986, in Naples, Italy, Diego Sinagra is Maradona’s firstborn son. Diego Junior’s mother, Cristiana Sinagra, had to go to court in order to get Diego Maradona to admit paternity.

Diego Sinagra is now a footballer in Italy who plays for A.S.D San Giorgio.

Jana Maradona is Diego’s third daughter. She was born in 1996 and works as a lingerie model. She has around 200,000 Instagram followers (@janamaradona).

After moving on from his first wife, Maradona met Veronica Ojeda. Together they had a son, Diego Fernando Maradona Ojeda, who was born in 2013.

According to The Daily Mail, a 23-year-old woman, Magali, and a teenager named Santiago Lara launched appeals to be recognised as Maradona’s children in 2019.

Diego Maradona’s daughter and Sergio Aguero

Diego’s daughter, Giannina, married Argentine footballer Sergio Aguero in 2008. However, the couple divorced in 2012.

Following their split, it was clear that there were tensions between Aguero and the Maradona family. As reported by The Sun, Diego dubbed Aguero a ‘wimp’ after his break up with Giannina.

According to The Express, Giannina took to social media “after Sergio was pictured taking a break with singer Karina Tejeda, telling him: “It makes me very sad that having so many people around you, not one of them can tell you that your son comes first“.

Sergio and Giannina share a son, Benjamin, who was born in 2009, meaning that Diego Maradona is the grandfather of Sergio’s son.
