Tim Sherwood has told Premier League Productions that Pierre Emile Hojbjerg has been ‘outstanding’ for Tottenham this season.

The former midfielder also claimed that Spurs centre-back duo Toby Alderweireld and Erc Dier ‘aren’t comfortable’ defending on the ‘half-way line’ for Spurs hence the current tactics used by their manager.

Spurs recorded three points and yet another clean sheet at the weekend when they beat Manchester City 2-0 on home soil.

Sherwood was sharing his thoughts on Jose Mourinho’s game plan with the crop of players he has at his disposal.

“I think he [Mourinho] has realised that he’s got Alderweireld, who has got a knock, so he’s going to be out injured,” said Sherwood. “He has got Eric Dier. They are not comfortable defending on the halfway line.

“The best way they can perform, this team, Jose has looked at the squad now is to defend the box. Hojbjerg has been outstanding. Breaks up play. And they have got two athletes beside him. Then they have got two players up top, Son and Kane, who can win you the game.

“As long as they are on the pitch, you are still in the game then you always have a chance. And that is the game plan.”
