Sunderland appear to have taken the former Tottenham Hotspur winger Rayan Clarke on trial.
Sunderland Under-23s named a mystery trialist in their squad to face Crystal Palace on Monday, who came off the bench to score.
And according to Soccerway, Clarke could be that man.
Clarke came through the ranks at Tottenham but was released at the end of last season having failed to make a first-team appearance.
And his lack of a contract means he can be signed immediately by Sunderland, should he impress during his spell on Wearside.
The usually reliable Soccerway also lists Clarke as having played for the Tottenham U23s at Manchester United on Sunday, though Spurs have confirmed it was his namesake Jack who was present at Leigh Sports Village.
The trialist’s goal arrived in the 85th minute of the Sunderland U23s’ 4-3 defeat against Crystal Palace, but could not spark the equaliser.
Clarke’s Tottenham teammate Kazaiah Sterling spent the latter half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Sunderland.
