A player with whom Everton, West Ham United and Newcastle United were linked in the summer transfer window could be available in January, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper claims the Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori ‘will be considered for a loan move in January’ and is ‘expected to be one of the high-profile players available’, should the Blues avoid injuries between now and then.
Everton turned to Ben Godfrey, then of Norwich City, after supposedly ‘looking at’ Tomori earlier this year, while West Ham signed Craig Dawson in the 22-year-old’s position.
But Newcastle failed to reinforce their own backline, despite allowing Florian Lejeune to join Deportivo Alaves on a season-long loan deal.
Whether Everton, West Ham or Newcastle would be keen on Tomori remains to be seen and The Telegraph fails to mention any club in connection with the England international.
All three sides have both slots still available for Premier League loan signings.
Tomori has played 26 times for the Chelsea first-team, but made just three of those appearances this season.
The Canada-born player had prior loan spells at Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City and Derby County.
Everton were said to be close to securing Tomori’s services back in September, despite Newcastle’s interest (ESPN), while it was claimed he turned down West Ham 10 minutes before the 5 October transfer deadline (Talksport).
