Arsenal want to sign former Tottenham Hotspur youngster Quaine Bartley, with TEAMtalk claiming that Leeds United are also eyeing the AFC Wimbledon striker.
There appears to be something of a trend developing in North London; one that involves an exciting youngster leaving Spurs and being picked up by their local rivals shortly afterwards.
Arsenal snapped up defender Jonathan Dinzeyi in August, while the Mail reported that the Gunners were also keen on Noni Madueke; a jet-heeled attacker who is now scoring goals for fun at PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.
Tottenham, it must be said, did their best to keep Madueke before he turned down a contract extension and headed to Holland (Sun).
But the situation is a little different with Bartley.
TEAMtalk claims that the London-born front man was released by Tottenham as a youngster but is now making a name for himself at League One Wimbledon.
Physically imposing and blessed with the nimble footwork of a ballroom dancer, the report adds that Chelsea and Leeds are also watching closely as Bartley pushes for a first-team debut under Dons boss Glyn Hodges.
Leeds’ interest should come as no surprise to anyone who has kept a close eye on the recruitment strategy at Elland Road this year.
As the arrivals of Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood, Charlie Allen and Cody Drameh will tell you, the West Yorkshire giants are scouring the market for talented, homegrown teenagers capable of thriving under a manager famed for turning budding youngsters into elite-level talents.
