Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to officiating from David Coote during Manchester United’s match against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday evening.
Coote was supposed to be on VAR duty during Liverpool’s Premier League game against Leicester City at Anfield on Sunday evening.
However, the official was removed from that role and was handed the task of refereeing the match at Old Trafford, as reported by The Liverpool Echo.
The game was a controversial one. Coote awarded West Brom a penalty after he thought that Bruno Fernandes had committed a foul on Conor Gallagher. He then reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor and changed his decision.
Liverpool fans will remember Coote from the controversial Merseyside derby against Everton last month.
Coote was on VAR duty for the Premier League match and did not punish Jordan Pickford for a rash tackle on Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk that saw him suffer a serious knee injury.
Some Liverpool fans have given their take on the officiating of Coote during the game at Old Trafford last night.
