Some Tottenham Hotspur fans and Pep Guardiola have raved about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Hojbjerg was in action for Tottenham in their Premier League game against Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.
The 25-year-old midfielder was a key figure for Spurs, who got the better of Guardiola’s side 2-0.
The former Southampton star was involved in Tottenham’s opening goal, protected the home team’s back-line, and was a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park.
According to WhoScored, the Denmark international had a pass accuracy of 94.4%, took 52 touches, and made five tackles and two clearances.
After the match, City manager Guardiola praised Hojbjerg and told Football.London: “We created chances, despite how difficult it was with the physicality. Hojbjerg was following the gaps really well.”
Hojbjerg joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2020 and has established himself as a key figure in the team.
The midfielder has brought steel to the Spurs midfield and has helped the team get better defensively.
So far this season, Jose Mourinho’s side have conceded nine goals in nine Premier League matches, as stated on BBC Sport.
Some Tottenham fans were also impressed by Hojbjerg’s display last night, as the following posts on Twitter show.
