Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to hail Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Håland, after the Liverpool-linked wonderkid secured the 2020 Golden Boy award.
The Norway international has followed in the footsteps of world-class players such as Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney by winning the coveted award, which is handed to the best young player under the age of 21.
After hearing of the former RB Salzburg forward’s achievement, Lineker tweeted the following.
The former England striker could well be commenting on Håland’s displays for Liverpool on Match of the Day in the near future, if RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund is to be believed.

Speaking to Sky90 (via Welt), Freund said the 20-year-old will sign for the Premier League champions at some point, saying: ‘He will land there.’
If the attacker – who Fabrizio Romano revealed has a release clause of €75 million (£66.9 million) – did end up at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s side would look even more fearsome, to say the least.

Håland scored a remarkable 44 goals in all competitions last season, and has taken his fine form into this campaign with 11 goals in 11 games for Borussia Dortmund.
He is up there with Kylian Mbappe and Joao Felix as the greatest prodigies in Europe right now – in fact, forget the term prodigy, he’s playing just as well as any senior star in world football right now.
