The RB Leipzig colossus – who cost the Bundesliga outfit £9 million in 2017 – has attracted the interest of some top clubs with his fine performances.
Sunday World revealed that Liverpool could potentially make a bid for the Frenchman following Virgil van Dijk’s injury.
Elsewhere, The Times have reported Manchester United’s interest, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plotting a move for the centre-back next summer.
The Times also state that Upamecano has a release clause of £38 million, which will become active in the summer window.
After a Red Devils fan page named ‘utdarmyy’ posted news linking the 22-year-old to Old Trafford along with a photoshopped image of him in United gear, the RB Leipzig No.5 was seen to have liked the post.
This could mean absolutely nothing, and Upamecano might’ve just been proud to see his name linked to one of Europe’s most historic sides.
However, amid talk of a move to Liverpool – United’s bitter rivals – it will almost certainly have people talking.
Upamecano has made ten appearances in all competitions for Julian Nagelsmann’s side this season, scoring one goal.
His relatively low release clause, coupled with his young age and ceiling for growth, makes him one of the most attractive propositions for clubs next summer.
