Last night Gucci Mane and Jeezy took part in Verzuz, but who won? Here’s what happened and who people chose as their winner: Gucci or Jeezy.
The Verzuz battle was streamed on Instagram Live and Apple music, garnering over 1.8m viewers.
The rap duel is the latest in the ongoing series which sees two artist play their songs against one another in rounds to decide who won and is ultimately the best of the two is. The series was founded by producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland during quarantine as a way to keep fans entertained.
In order to decide who of Gucci and Jeezy won, the rappers competed in 20 rounds during the whole challenge.
What happened in the Gucci and Jeezy Verzuz?
Unlike most Verzuz battles, Gucci and Jeezy’s is somewhat different, as the rappers have a 15-year-long beef, which includes multiple diss tracks, fights between entourages and a murder charge against Gucci Mane for the death of Pookie Loc. However, he was acquitted of the charge in 2006.
The history with one another was clear to see throughout, with both rappers taking jabs in between songs. At one point, Gucci claimed: “My outfit cost 10 bands, look at my opponent man. Look at him.”
Jeezy struck back with: “I don’t have no $10,000 outfit, but I own half of Atlanta.”
Gucci also made references to the death of Pookie Loc throughout the battle, while Jeezy later reminded him of the ground rules of the battle.
As we all know though, the intermissions aren’t key in deciding who won, Gucci or Jeezy, but the music instead. Gucci opened with ‘Round 1’ and ‘Bench Warmer’, two Jeezy diss tracks.
Of course both rappers played classics throughout including Gucci Mane’s Half a Brick and Jeezy’s ‘Who Dat’, making it a hard call to decide who won.
In the final round, Gucci played ‘Trap House’ while Jeezy finished with Jay-Z collab ‘Seen It All’.
Much to the joy of fans, the two rappers joined together to sing ‘So Icy’, a song that features them both, seemingly putting their beef to the side.
