Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce faced the media ahead of his side’s big game against Chelsea this weekend.

Bruce had a lot to answer, but the biggest topic concerning the club this week was about Miguel Almiron’s future. The Paraguayan’s agent, Daniel Campos, has been vocal about his client’s desire to leave the club (Read here).

Some of his comments angered many Newcastle fans, and Bruce was no different. The Magpies boss was absolutely livid, and he didn’t hold anything back as he responded to Almiron’s agent.

Bruce told the Chronicle: “I couldn’t miss them because they were so outrageous. A two-bob agent acting so amateurishly. It’s disrespectful to us all & to the club who has served Miguel so well.

“Miguel is an unbelievable pro & he appreciates what the club has given him. The agent, it proves to me it’s just an amateur looking to make a fast buck again, which is ridiculous. I haven’t seen Miguel yet as he’s only back today but I will talk to him”

Almiron joined Newcastle from MLS side Atlanta United back in January 2019 for a then club-record fee. He has played 62 times for the Magpies in all competitions so far, but his goal return isn’t that great.

The 26-year-old has scored just nine goals and provided only five assists for Newcastle so far. That is a very poor return for someone who cost so much money, but Bruce has always been supportive of his Paraguayan attacker.

Almiron has not had any direct issues with the club since he joined them a year-and-a-half ago. He, as Bruce said, has been very professional, but his agent’s comments could change everything.

Campos’s comments have clearly not gone down well with Bruce and the rest at Newcastle. The rift between the club and the agent could hugely impact Almiron’s future, especially with the January transfer window commencing in just over five weeks.
