The Crossfire X team have just released a statement on the development of the game, what date will the title release on console?
When it comes to popular first-person shooter games, titles like Call of Duty, PUBG and Battlefield are the first titles that come to mind.
However, it turns out that the most played first-person shooter in the world is a game called Crossfire – which has upwards of 600 million registered players.
The franchise has been incredibly popular in Asian territories since its premiere in 2008 and Crossfire is coming to console with the hope of taking over the western market.
After the success of the Crossfire X open beta earlier this year and the premiere of the single-player campaign trailer, many gamers are wondering when the title will actually release.
Crossfire X: Release date…
- Per a recent statement from the developers, Crossfire X will release in 2021 but a more specific date has not yet been confirmed.
In a statement on Twitter from the Crossfire X production team, it was revealed that the game will not release until 2021.
“Moving our release will allow us to deliver the Crossfire experience on console our team set out to create. We’ll have more to share in the future.” – Crossfire X development team.
Many gamers were expecting the release date to be announced following the conclusion of the open beta. However, the majority of expecting players would prefer to wait until the game is in a playable state on consoles.
Hopefully, we will get another update or another official announcement from either Smilegate or Xbox Game Studios within the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
Crossfire X release rumours…
Prior to the recent statement, there was a whole host of rumours circulating online about a possible release date for Crossfire X.
Some gamers were predicting that the title will be released alongside the new Xbox Series X console (perhaps just because of the matching ‘X’ in the names), but that was not the case.
Interestingly, Crossfire X is still named as a featured game in ‘coming soon’ Xbox Series X titles, indicating that an early 2021 release could be likely.
Gamers are getting frustrated…
Understandably, gamers were left feeling confused and frustrated at the lack of release date for Crossfire X after the beta closed.
However, the recent statement from the developers has seemingly split the community; with some being optimistic about the development, whilst others are accusing the team of being lazy.
