Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can finally enjoy a nice sit down, as new reactions added in the Winter Update allow for islanders to take a load off and rest their legs.

Sitting down within the game is a simple process that involves pressing a few buttons once you’ve done it the first time, but to unlock the ability to sit down does involve purchasing an in-game item and navigating a few menus.

While the process of using a reaction may be complicated, it’s possible to set it to a hotkey for quick use once you’ve mastered the difficult art of sitting down.

How to sit down in Animal Crossing

To sit down in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you first need to purchase the Hip Reaction Collection from Residential Services. Then, press ZR to bring up your reactions, and Y to see the full list of all reactions you own. Then, scroll down to the picture of a cat sitting, which is labelled Sit Down, and tap it.

The Hip Reaction Collection costs 2,700 Bells, so it’s not overly expensive and can be picked up relatively easily.

Once you have the collection in Animal Crossing, you can also register Sit Down to your quick wheel of initially accessible reactions by pressing X while hovering over an empty slot on the wheel, or by pressing X while hovering over a full slot to remove the existing reaction and replace it with Sit Down.
